It’s meant to track submarines at long distance. They might be trying to track US and Japanese AIP Diesel subs. The naval drills are just a cover story.

Iran and Russia start joint training to take Azerbaijan’s oil and gas fields in the Caspian Sea. Worse, the two countries may be getting ready for a ground war against Azerbaijan. Russia is pissed that they may pull an Ukraine and get closer to EU. Iran is pissed that they allowed Isreal to use its not so secret base in Azerbaijan to bomb them. Money is on turkey joining that party to help Azerbaijan. Big question is if Isreal helps Azerbaijan if that shit storm happens. Italy and I think Greece will face an energy crisis since they get a majority of their energy from the Caspian Sea.

Given the historical record of the Russian Navy, maybe someone should go over there and make sure the Russian sailors know that 'naval drills' means they should drill holes in their Navy while it's still close enough to land to wade ashore. Otherwise they're probably going to shoot at a fishing boat and somehow lose half their own crew in the process. Just as a humanitarian gesture.

I don't either but I do know that this navy successfully launched cruise missiles to Ukraine. And from its location it has been untouchable so far. I bet you the Ukrainians take it seriously.
